    NOTICE OF SEASONAL TRAIL OPENING

Washburn, WI (May 15, 2020) – Bayfield County ATV/UTV trails are officially open as of today, May 15, 2020.  The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest trails are also now open, rescinding the closure order from earlier this year.

Please be aware that crews are still out on the trails cleaning up debris from last winter’s heavy snow. There are some washouts that will be repaired as soon as possible and logging is occurring on at least one section of trail so ride with caution.

Trail conditions are variable and in early spring condition, so please tread lightly and report any downed trees or other issues as soon as possible to the Bayfield County Forestry & Parks Department at (715) 373-6114.

As always, riders should use caution when out on the trails.  Please stay on the designated trails and routes and follow the trail signs.

Trail maps can be found at area businesses and can also be viewed and ordered online along with updated trail conditions at www.bayfieldcounty.org/778/Trail-Conditions.

Trails North monthly meeting of May 14th is canceled due to the virus pandemic. Also, due to lack of planning meetings & continued business closures, there will be no events for May.  The usual events for the Memorial Day weekend may still be planned and set for later this Summer.

FYI:… Bayfield County and USFS ATV/UTV trails are closed.  The Tri County corridor and routes remain open. All facilities in the US Forest are also closed. Information on potential opening will be available on May 1st.

Topics from the last club meeting:

Next order of business was the discussion of Memorial weekend Meet & Greet and the Poker Run.  We will again hold the Poker Run over the weekend starting on Friday night and ending on Sunday afternoon.  Meet and Greet will be held by The Other Place on Saturday May 23, 2020.  We are looking for a volunteer to head up the Meet and Greet and get that organized.  This will be on the Agenda for April meeting.  Nancy, Jeanne, & Julie will head up the Poker Run committee.  Rod will be doing the posters again, and the sheets with the sponsors on.  We again will need people to pass out posters and help collect donations.  Please offer to help with this event as it is a great weekend for riding and having fun.

There was an article in the WATVA magazine regarding Douglas County ATV/UTV trails.  Starting May 22nd Douglas County is opening almost all county roads to ATV/UTV riders.  There is a portion of Hwy B from Degerman Rd to Fitch Ave in Lake Nebagamon that is off limits, and the last 2.12 miles on Hwy Y in the Gordon and Highland area because that road is Bayfield County.
